Join Our Team: Experienced Support Specialist Wanted - Dementia Care

Are you passionate about making a significant impact in the lives of individuals with dementia? Do you bring at least 2 years of experience supporting participants with dementia and complex needs? If so, we want you to join our dedicated and professional team at SIRV!

Location: Wellard, Haynes, Rivervale

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality support to clients with dementia in our SIL Homes
  • Expertly manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, including verbal and physical aggression
  • Provide personal care including hoisting
  • Provide personal care with dignity and respect for the client’s comfort
  • Communicate effectively to minimize misunderstandings and prevent escalation
  • Support participants with limited verbal communication
  • Implement and follow individualized care plans and behaviour management strategies
  • Maintain precise records of client behaviour, care provided, and incidents, understanding Positive Behaviour Support Plans and Restrictive Practices

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience working with clients with dementia and challenging behaviours
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to remain calm and patient in high-stress situations
  • Physical capability to provide personal care and manage physical aggression
  • Deep empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends (Shift times: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm into sleepover finishing at 6am)
  • Relevant qualifications in Disability Support, Community Services, or a related field
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
