Join Our Team: Experienced Support Specialist Wanted - Dementia Care
Are you passionate about making a significant impact in the lives of individuals with dementia? Do you bring at least 2 years of experience supporting participants with dementia and complex needs? If so, we want you to join our dedicated and professional team at SIRV!
Location: Wellard, Haynes, Rivervale
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality support to clients with dementia in our SIL Homes
- Expertly manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, including verbal and physical aggression
- Provide personal care including hoisting
- Provide personal care with dignity and respect for the client’s comfort
- Communicate effectively to minimize misunderstandings and prevent escalation
- Support participants with limited verbal communication
- Implement and follow individualized care plans and behaviour management strategies
- Maintain precise records of client behaviour, care provided, and incidents, understanding Positive Behaviour Support Plans and Restrictive Practices
Requirements:
- Extensive experience working with clients with dementia and challenging behaviours
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to remain calm and patient in high-stress situations
- Physical capability to provide personal care and manage physical aggression
- Deep empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends (Shift times: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm into sleepover finishing at 6am)
- Relevant qualifications in Disability Support, Community Services, or a related field
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
