Role Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. As the Senior Support Specialist you will work with NDIS Participants with complex, high intensity or home and living packages, as well as provide administrative support to the Team Leader for the region. The hours included as part of the part-time contract are flexible and will be based on availability and employee preference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Support Worker team.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and assist in the management and maintenance of accurate medication records
  • Utilize manual handling techniques safely and effectively
  • Encourage and support clients in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their independence
  • Maintaining individual participant files in all systems for assigned case load of participant
  • Assist in the management of rosters
  • Participate in on-call roster
  • Provide a first point of call for support staff for participants on caseload
  • Engagement with stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience and Other Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Female - Working with Female only Participants.
  • Certificate III or higher in Disability Support or a related field
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check (Blue and Yellow Card)
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Experience with and capacity to use a hoist.
  • Experience working with people living with a psychosocial disability and the ability to guide and support Support Workers entering the industry and new employees.
  • Experience administering medication and capacity to support team and provide oversight of the management of participant medications
  • Participation in in the on-call roster (1 week every 8 weeks)
  • Ability to work across a variety of shifts, including sleepovers, active overnights and weekends.

Ideal:

  • Experience with and capacity to provide PEG (enteral feeding) support.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transport and vehicle insurance
